As our most affordable 18 hole course, FarView is just 20 minutes from downtown Rochester. It may not have all the upscale ammenities of other area courses, but it does provide lush rolling fairways, meticulously manicured greens and the course is always in excellent shape. Fairways range from narrow to wide with doglegs, water hazards, sand traps and other little surprises that makes this course both challenging and exciting to play. With great elevation changes and spectacular views of downtown in the distance, FarView encourages golfers to use their imagination as use of the slopes and contours can help maneuver the ball around the course.
One interesting fact about FarView is during the building of the course in 1991, a nearly complete skeleton of a Mastodon was unearthed. Mastodons were members of large mammal species, now extinct and related to elephants, that inhabited North and Central America during the late Miocene or late Pliocene up to their extinction at the end of the Pleistocene 11,000 years ago. This is one of the most complete skeletons ever found in the United States. The skeleton was discovered on the pond side of the 18th green. The remains are currently on display at the Rochester Museum and Science Center for everyone to enjoy.
